"my Assignment"

recently since im soo free 90 percent of my time here i ask one of my fren for her assingment if any for me to lend a helping hand..ehhe..and she got one something about computer virus...
so then i just cari from the web all the infomation needed, last2 siap juga...even i dont really know about all the stuff specifically, and here is one of "my assingment" .

1. Brain Virus

Brain virus was the first computer virus for MS DOS ever created in 1986. It was created by the two brother namely Basit and Amjad Farooq Alvi from Pakistan. Even thou it was the first virus ever created, it had a full stealth capability. The virus also known as Lahore, Pakistani, Pakistani Brain , Brain A , Clone and UIUC.
What do they do ?
The Brain virus is a memory resident virus that change the infected disk’s volume label with the copy of the virus ©Brain or ©ashar. The real boot sector is moved to another sector and marked as bad. it will hooked into INT13. The following test can be seen in the infected boot sectors.

How they do it?
The virus tries to hide from detection by hooking into INT 13 sector. It will go undetectable partially due to this deliberate non-destructive, especially when no careful attention to the slow speed of floppy disk access by the user. Eventually it will slow down the floppy disk drive and makes seven kilobytes of memory unavailable to DOS. It will show the user the original boot sector when an attempt is made to read an infected boot sector if the virus is active in memory.

What is The Solution?
©Brain lacks code for dealing with hard disk partitioning, and avoids infecting hard disks by checking the most significant bit of the BIOS drive number being accessed; ©Brain does not infect the disk if the bit is clear, unlike other viruses at the time which were totally agnostic of disk partitioning and consequentially destroyed data stored on hard disks by treating them in the same way as floppy disks.

maybe after this i should read more about virus and worm...maybe can create a new one later heheh...
